With more and more people going vegan all the time (hooray!), it’s not hard to find vegan pizza options, especially in a vegan friendly place like Austin, TX. If you’re vegan and also gluten free though (like me), it can be a little trickier since not all pizza places have gluten free crusts, and if they do, some gluten free crusts contain non-vegan ingredients like eggs, dairy, or honey.
So I created this pizza guide for all of the gluten free vegans out there (and the gf/dairy free peeps). If you’re vegan but not gluten free, check out The Lazy Smurf’s Austin Vegan Pizza Guide!
I’ve sampled quite a few of these options (as pictured) but not all. If I missed anywhere, please let me know! Have you tried any places that have vegan and gluten free pizza in Austin? Let me know in the comments!
Notes: I avoid gluten but don’t have Celiac–call to ask about potential cross contamination. I’ve done my best to make sure this guide is accurate, but I also recommend double checking to make sure everything is vegan, especially if it’s not listed as vegan on the menu/website since recipes and ingredients can change. The options are listed with the one’s I’ve tried first, then the rest.
Vegan & Gluten-free Crust with Vegan Cheese
Li’l Nonna’s (East Riverside)
Li’l Nonna’s is a vegetarian pizza trailer next to The Buzzmill on Riverside that has housemade vegan/gf crust (10″), cheeses, and meats! I love the “meat out” pizza with beeteroni and spicy tempeh, and their vegan cheese is so good! They also have a deep dish gluten free crust that’s amazing, but they only make it in limited quantities, so ask ahead of time.
I’ve used Favor to order from them (even though they’re only a block away lol), and they also offer delivery through Amazon Prime Now. Also warning: they are closed on Mondays & Tuesdays. I’ve been so excited to order from them only to realize it’s Monday multiple times. Update: Starting in mid-September they’ll only be closed Mondays.
Z Pizza (South, delivers)
Z Pizza is a vegan-friendly pizza chain with a location on Slaughter Lane that has a vegan/gluten free crust, Daiya, and Beyond Meat crumbles. They have a vegan pizza on the menu (The Berkley vegan), but I build my own and actually don’t usually get Daiya on it–I love their gluten free crust (it’s a little sweet–yum!) loaded up with veggies. They used to have roasted eggplant which I loved, but they haven’t lately. All of their vegan & gluten free options are listed here.
Update 9/5/2017: After having many good experiences with Z Pizza, yesterday they messed up our order and put real cheese on our vegan pizzas. They sent us free ones with the correct order after, but they seriously skimped on the toppings, and the crust was burnt. Hoping this was a one time thing, but I’m not planning on ordering from them again anytime soon.
MOD Pizza (East Riverside, Westlake, North)
MOD Pizza is a build-your-own pizza chain that offers vegan/gf crust and Daiya cheese with locations on Riverside, Mueller Market, and the Village at Westgate. Three of their sauces are vegan (red, BBQ, & garlic rub). I love that toppings are unlimited and how quick they are. Their ingredients and allergens are listed here.
Rockin Tomato (Central)
Rockin Tomato is a pizza restaurant and bar on South Lamar that has live music and offers a house milled 10″ vegan and gluten free organic whole grains crust and vegan cheese. I tried it for the first time recently and enjoyed it–I’d ask for extra sauce next time though.
Flaming Pizza (North)
Flaming Pizza is a build your own pizza place at The Domain next to iPic that has a vegan/gluten free crust and vegan cheese. All of their sauces are vegan except for the white sauce. I love piling on veggies there since toppings are unlimited.
Blaze Pizza (North)
Blaze Pizza is a vegan friendly build your own pizza chain with a location in North Austin that has a vegan/gluten free crust and vegan cheese. I haven’t been to the Austin location, but I’ve had Blaze Pizza in other cities (Orlando & Tucson), and it’s good. Their allergen info is listed here.
Austin’s Pizza (Various locations, delivers)
Austin’s Pizza is an Austin pizza chain that offers Smart Flour Foods 10″ gluten free crusts. You can build your own vegan pizza with veggies and Follow Your Heart vegan mozzarella. The tomato sauce and bbq sauces are vegan (the alfredo and pesto have cheese.) They deliver, but not to where I live.
Counter Culture (Eastside)
Counter Culture is an all vegan restaurant that offers a daily pizza special and has a gluten free option–they use Smart Flour Foods 10″ crusts as well. I like Smart Flour Foods gf crust, but I make it at home often, so I don’t usually order it when I’m out. I tried one here once a while ago though, and the homemade cheese was tasty.
More vegan/gluten free crust with vegan cheese (I haven’t tried these):

The following are listed on the Smart Flour locator but don’t mention having gf on the menu & may or may not have them:
Vegan Options (not gluten free)
To save you the time if you’re wondering, the following places have vegan pizza options, but don’t offer gluten free/vegan crusts:
Via 313 detroit style pizza is delicious, and they have vegan pizza with Follow Your Heart cheese, but unfortunately their gluten free crust is NOT vegan.
Bistro Vonish– Bistro Vonish is an all vegan food trailer that does have delicious gluten free items on the menu, but their pizzas aren’t gluten free.
Hoboken Pizza has Daiya and house-made vegan tofu ricotta, but no gluten free crust.
The Parlor– The Parlor has vegan cheese and house made vegan meats, but their gluten free crusts are NOT vegan.
